WHY STUDY NURSING INFORMATICS

WHAT STRUCK ME THE MOST 

        What struck me the most regarding Health Informatics is that there's a profession that focuses on managing and organizing health data via electronics and teaching other Healthcare professionals how to use new advanced patient care technology that improves the efficiency and quality of healthcare. In addition, the profession and technology have a cooperative relationship because the advancement of technology may also affect the application of Health Informatics.

        Furthermore, Nursing is an excellent profession to specialize in Health Informatics due to Nursing having a comprehensive experience in many different departments. This experience would help improve the application of Health Informatics that manages and organizes the Data in those departments. Especially, when the specialist stated in the Videos that it's a good background when the Nurse has Five (5) and more years of experience to specialize in Health Informatics.

        What I learned and experienced regarding Health Informatics based on what I watched in the videos in connection with what I learned and experienced in my Hospital Duty is that I now finally understand and realize the significance and history of patient care technology better than before. Especially, when the Health Care System consist of many technologies it's now very important to study Nursing/Health Informatics to have a background knowledge regarding the Patient Care Equipment's.

A WORLD OF MY IMAGINATION

WITHOUT DATA

        A World without Data would affect many diverse fields because Data are the most basic foundation of Change and Planning due to their reasoning or calculation being reliable as a reference. Data is a vital requirement to determine a particular part or feature of the subject. Especially when Data is needed to construct the appropriate and suitable plan of action depending on the situation. Other than that, Data is also used for monitoring and evaluation of the Plan or Change to determine the effectiveness and information that must be noted.

WITHOUT HEALTH INFORMATICS

        A World without Health Informatics would affect the Heath system significantly by lowering the provision efficiency and quality of healthcare. Health Informatics in the Modern era is related to the creation of many technologies and application that improves and support the efficiency and quality of Healthcare and Communication more effectively between Healthcare Professions. In other words, Health Informatics is a vital concept in supporting and improving Healthcare due to healthcare technologies, and Data Management has allowed Healthcare Professionals to in many ways depending on how Health Informatics is used.

WITHOUT DATA POLICIES AND STANDARDS

        A World without Data Policies and Standards would affect the collection of Data or Information to be disorganized, as Data Policies and Standards are the concepts that guide individuals or Healthcare professionals on how to collect, manage, and organize Data or Information to be used and applied by the Healthcare Professionals. Furthermore, this also ensures how to properly gather data in an organized and accurate manner and level without manipulation and imparts the data to everyone that can be easily understood and improved. In addition, this also protects the people so that there won't be any collection that may cause any harm.

WITHOUT COMPUTERS

        A World without Computers would affect the Modern Era significantly because Computers can be considered the basis of most technology in the Modern Era. Technically, a world without one may lead to a massive downgrade of quality in various fields due to them being dependent on Technologies in the current era to make it happen more efficiently, simply, comfortably, and enjoyable, such as Communication has shown massive improvements from Mail that would take weeks or month to be delivered into E-Mail that would only take a few seconds between individuals or more.

THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN

"DIKW Meta-Structures" & "Nursing Process"

                        

          DIKW Meta-Structures is a model that represents the relationship between Data, Information, Knowledge, and Wisdom. The DIKW Meta-Structures model showcase starts from the Data, which is the most basic fact or statistics collected from the subject. After that, the next part of the process is to manage the data methodically by connecting the piece of data to be turned into Information that would be processed and understood by the individual with their own understanding of the subject to be turned into knowledge that can be used as the basis of Wisdom on how to properly integrate or apply the knowledge in the real-life setting or to the subject matter.

         The Nursing Process is the basis of the Nursing Practice, or the Guide used by Nurses to determine the prioritization of care by forming a Nursing Care Plan. The Nursing process will start with the Assessment, which is part of the Nursing Process of collecting Subjective and Objective Data. The Next would be the Nursing Diagnosis to determine which issue or complication to be recognized and prioritize to be tackled by the Nurse based on the Assessment. Other than that, the next would be the Outcome or Objective of the Nursing Care Plan on what to expect after the Intervention, that was formed to achieve the Outcome would be determined by the Evaluation the last part of the Nursing Process.

         The Similarity between the DIKW Meta-Structures in Nursing Process is that both of their processes are somewhat the same in terms of their idea by showing the importance of knowing and/or the collection of Data to construct the foundation needed to proceed with well-grounded evidence to support the plan of action. Furthermore, the interrelationship between the two (2) concepts starts from the fact that the Data and Information can be considered to be the Assessment and Nursing Diagnosis of the Nursing Process with their differentiation of the Subjective and Objective Data, while Knowledge and Wisdom are shown to be the Rest of the Nursing Process such as Planning, Intervention including the Evaluation.

        Other than that, The DIKW Meta-Structures and Nursing Process can be used for teaching practices by following the concept of assessing and gathering data due to the idea are considered to be one of the most significant parts that can contribute to learning by determining the strength and weaknesses of the individual in terms of their learning process would be very helpful in creating the suitable learning method. Especially, when they're also able to improve my learning by taking advantage of my strength. In other words, based on the two (2) concepts of differentiating the data or information and also their importance via assessment can also be seen being used in many different fields due to their wide usability.
