What is Big Data?

        Big Data refers to the large data being continuously gathered or collected that couldn't be collected or processed using normal methods due to how large and complex the data can be that's being collected from the subject. This data can only be interpreted by determining the patterns, meaning, and waves of the data being collected regarding the subject matter in different areas or around the world. Especially, when almost everything is measurable and quantifiable that Big Data can be used for various perspective, such as monitoring and/or determining a possible Flu epidemic around the world by examining the queries in Google or another Search Engine about Flu symptoms or treatment in a specific area that shows a higher rate of queries related to Flu or other symptoms of diseases. Other than that, it can also be used Health-Related Information by measuring vital signs, Economic Growth and Inflation, Crime Rate, and etc.

            In other words, Big Data is a very vital application for prediction of the future and prevention of an issue in various areas due to how it monitors the target in the past and determine the possible options or path that may lead the target. Especially, when the usage and the advancement of technology is now included in the current era, where that Big Data is now being collected in a more efficient, accurate and organized manner compared to the collection of data in the past before due to Technology such as Health Prevention, Future Investments, Location prone to Crime, and etc. that will help the individual or organization where to point and/or focus more directly and immediately to create a plan of action and solve or achieve the objective based on the person or situation especially when all kinds of data and information can be seen everywhere that can also be used to your advantage.

How Big Data can be used to solve the Current Problems of Mankind?

CLIMATE CHANGE

            Big Data can fight climate change by gathering data of the early signs of the detrimental effect of the problem such as an increase of Global temperature, emission rate of carbon, and areas prone to natural calamities and spread awareness regarding the importance of global situation, as most of the preventive measures of Climate change is for everyone to be aware. This Data that was gathered, assimilated, and analyzed by the individual or organization would be very helpful in monitoring and determining the severity of the Climate change.

POVERTY

           Using Big Data to fight Poverty won't be easy one due to how big and clustered poverty in many different locations that also consist of many different problems. Using Big data, the target population can be estimated and also determine the location and the specific causes of Poverty by providing an interview or survey to the masses. In addition, determining the causes of poverty by gathering data would be very helpful in knowing and what to prioritized that would fix and/or reducing the severity of the current problem by intervening based on the situation or data gathered such as providing job, financial service or aids, provision of aids, and etc. that would improve their quality of life. Big data is also important to monitor and estimate the population for evaluation to determine the effectiveness and what changes that should be done to improve the intervention. 

SECURITY

            For Security, Big data can be applied in solving the issue by improving the security itself via preventive measures that was predicted. This data is used to identify the patterns in everything that can be gathered or collected from a real-life crime to predict agenda, or information that may predict an occurrence of cyber-attacks that can be prevented based on the early signs.

How Data can be used to solve Future Pandemics

            Pandemics are widespread occurrences of infectious diseases around the world at a particular time such as the Covid-19 or Coronavirus Pandemic that's currently ongoing, the way of solving this worldwide problem through Data is very significant and essential due to the fact that data is the basis or the supporting pillar of planning or plan of action to be reliable. As it was said before, Data or Big Data can be used to monitor and predict upcoming pandemics before it started by continuously gathering data or information around the world where the place is more prone to start a pandemic or due to the Data or Information is pointing in a specific location that may also have chance of starting one. In addition, as everything is measurable and quantifiable the data or big data being continuously collected can be monitored and also be used as the evaluation of the effectiveness of the current method of preventive measures or various treatment to solve the pandemic more efficiently by gathering data of which are more effective to be turn into an information that must be disseminated.
